What’s wrong with this story?

Read the first paragraph of this article and tell me if you can figure out what’s wrong with it.

RAMALLAH, West Bank - Hundreds of Palestinian security men loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas went on a rampage against the Hamas-led government Monday, riddling the parliament building and Cabinet offices with bullets before setting them ablaze in retaliation for an attack by Hamas gunmen in the Gaza Strip.

Ok, so I could be cynically facetious and say that there’s nothing new about Palestinians torching buildings. But these aren’t ordinary Palestinians. These men belong to the Palestinian government’s security department. They are supposed to protect the government and enforce the law. These are supposed to be the GOOD GUYS! And here they are shooting up government buildings and taking lawmakers hostage as the Palestinians spiral deeper into civil war.

And here’s what really disturbs me, and should disturb you, too. Why are Palestinians killing each other? Apparently because they can’t decide if they want to kill Jews. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas wants peace with Israel, but the Hamas government wants to destroy Israel. Man, and we think the partisan bickering over here in America has gotten bad. To settle the issue once and for all, Abbas has proposed a referendum on the issue. Can you believe this? If Abbas gets his way, the Palestinians are actually going to have a vote to decide whether or not they want to destroy Israel! Can someone explain to me why the Israelis are being cast as the bad guys here?

Abbas hopes that the vote will come out in favor of peace. But, what if it doesn’t? What if Hamas wins the election? After all, they won the most recent election. Momentum appears to be on their side. The Palestinian people have already shown that they do not want to have peace when they elected terrorists to represent them in their government. Now they are on the verge of giving that government the legal authority to send suicide bombers into Israel. With neighbors like these, is it any wonder the Israelis are building the security wall?
