In Case You Wanted To Know Why We Don’t Believe Them
Noel Sheppard has a very good article detailing the MSM’s flip-flop on the importance of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Before al-Zarqawi was killed, the MSM reported him as the most dangerous man in the world, higher even then bin Laden himself. He was put up as the symbol of President Bush’s “failed policy” in Iraq. But now that he’s dead, he’s no big deal. He’s not important. He was just a figurehead. Sheppard wonders, if bin Laden turned himself in today, would the MSM report that as good news?
Sheppard uses the media’s reporting of al-Zarqawi’s death to explain a broader point on how the MSM is biased against Bush and Conservatives. He says,
Since at least the year 2000, it seems virtually every mainstream report of a current event has been meticulously crafted to further the goals of politicians favored by the media, while acting to thwart the efforts of those whose views are considered to be unacceptable by these supposedly enlightened journalists regardless of what position of power or responsibility they hold.
I love that phrase, “meticulously crafted.” It is absolutely right.
Of course, our friends on the left complain constantly about how FOX News is ruining America because they don’t live up to (what the left considers) journalistic standards. But, if Dan Rather is the poster boy of journalistic standards, then I think FOX News is doing a good thing. To prove my point further, let me point out a few things that I not have seen on FOX News:
–I have not seen FOX News report as fact a story based on forged documents.
–I have not seen FOX News hire Karl Rove to host its Sunday morning talk show. (George Stephanopolous, one of the architects of Bill Clinton’s victory in 1992, hosts ABC’s This Week. He is also ABC’s chief Washington correspondent.)
–I have not seen Alan Combs or Geraldine Ferraro (who is a frequent FOX News contributor) walk off the set during a live show because they were fed up with the bias on the network. (Robert Novak walked off the set during a live CNN broadcast. Seriously, if Robert Novak, who had been with CNN since the beginning, gets so fed up with CNN’s bias that he walks off the set, there is a BIG problem at CNN.)
So much for fair reporting from the MSM.
