Right to Life Die

Terri Schiavo one ruling closer to death

There was a time in this country that the Right to Life was held sacred (“Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”), but now the right to die, and in the case of abortion, the right to kill, override that sacred Right.

Maybe someone out their can explain to me how Michael Schiavo can be living with another woman and still be considered Terri Schiavo’s next of kin and demand her feeding tube be removed, over her parents’ objections. He claims that she is in a persistent vegetative state and unconscious. But in the videos I have seen of her she seems to be alert and aware of her surroundings, even smiling. He claims that she once told him that she would not want to be kept alive in this situation. But it’s only his word, she did not leave a living will. So we don’t really know. All we know is that he is living with another woman, and he is trying really hard to end his wife’s life. Sounds very suspicious to me.

What if this were you? Would you feel comfortable if you were brain damaged and unable to speak for yourself, and your spouse (who has started a new family while you’re in the hospital) was the only one who could make life and death decisions for you, overruling even your parents? I wouldn’t be comfortable with it, either. I don’t think Terri Schiavo is very comfortable with it. Unfortunately, she can’t defend herself. And in a few days, a judge will allow her “husband” to remove her feeding tube and let her starve to death so that he can get back to his life and his new wife. We are a selfish people. It is illegal to kill someone, unless you kill them for convenience, then you have a Constitutionally protected right.
