The Pope is in the Hospital, A Suicide Bombing in Israel, and I Haven’t Even Eaten my Cookie

So, the Pope is in the Hospital, again. And again we hear people say he should just step down and let the Cardinals elect a new Pope. I used to be one of those people. But then I heard the reason why the Pope won’t step down. It is because he believes in the sanctity of human life. This Pope is living his latter years as a testament to the worth of life. You see, this Pope isn’t going to give in to the argument that the elderly and sick have nothing to offer our society. He is determined to prove that all people, regardless of age or condition, have value. This may seem like a no-brainer. You may say, “Well, yeah. Of course all people have value. Who disagrees with that?” But let’s look around our society. Take for example Terri Schiavo. Her husband is obsessed with removing her feeding tube and allow her to starve (oops, I mean die) with dignity. Every hour of every day we kill our fellow humans at one extreme of life for our comfort and convenience (abortion), now we seek to do the same at the other extreme of life (right to die, assisted suicide). The culture of death is gaining ground everywhere. We are a selfish generation. A generation that values choice and convenience over life and love. A generation that increasingly believes that we have no time for those we deem “obsolete.” The Pope is bravely fighting against this culture of death, and there aren’t too many people coming to his aid and fighting alongside him. We at the Texian Party are not Catholics, but we are Christians, and we will proudly stand up with the Pope in this fight.

In another example of the growing culture of death, four people were killed in Tel Aviv, Israel by a suicide bomber. We have talked about this before. The Israeli/Palestinian peace process seems to be finally moving ahead. We have said that there will continue to be terrorist attacks against Israel, and Israel, for the time-being, will refrain from retaliating. Krauthammer, of course, has an excellent column about the peace process this week. Everyone should read it. And everyone should go back and read our previous posts regarding the peace process. You will know them by the Israeli flag at the end. It is up to the Palestinians to stop the attacks. That is the only hope for peace. We sincerely believe that if this current peace effort fails, there will not be another. Israel will have no choice but to take it upon herself to eliminate the terrorist threat living in Palestinian-held territory.

As for my cookie, that was just gag to draw you in. I do have a cookie that I bought with my lunch and haven’t had a chance to eat. Now that this post is done, I’ll eat it.
