Mass Evidence of WMD in Iraq
During the Condeleeza Rice confirmation hearings today, some Democratic Senators claimed that The United States were wrong in going to war in Iraq. They say we went to war over Weapons of Mass Destruction, yet after the war none have been found. Therefore we went to war because of faulty intelligence, or worse because President Bush lied to us. Of course the Dems don’t mention that EVERYBODY in the world thought Saddam Hussein had WMD, even the French. The difference is that the French didn’t want to do anything about it (probably because they were worried that their secret oil-for-food deals with Saddam would come to light). The other thing that the Dems failed to mention is that EVERYONE WAS RIGHT about WMD.

The
AP reported over the weekend that Iraq will open a center to identify bodies found in mass graves. The report states that since April 2003, 290 mass graves have been found containing 300, 000 bodies. Hussein was in power in Iraq from 1979 to 2003, that’s 24 years. Do the math and that averages to 24,500 people killed in every year he was in power. I think it was Vice President Cheney who said in last year’s VP Debate (I could be wrong on the details) that Saddam Hussein himself is a Weapon of Mass Destruction. The numbers prove the statement right. The first atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima, Japan in 1945 killed an estimated 140,000* people (that’s including those who died in the aftermath). Saddam Hussein killed 300,000. And that’s just what we’ve found so far. I expect we’ll still be finding mass graves in the desert 5, maybe even 10 to 20, years from now.
So, we did find Weapons of Mass Destruction: Hussein, his sons, and his cohorts.
